Battle of Downing Street

Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?

[edit]

I chose this article because I had never heard of this women's union. It is important because it took place at a time when women had little to no rights and it was a movement that responded to the violent treatment of women. This march helped send a message to government officials and the prime minister did not press charges even after his house was rushed by 20 women.

The article is well organized. Stating the background of the events, the reason for the march, the desired outcome of the protest, and the outcome of the event. The setting for the protest was described well by stating that the event took place when the prime minister had passed the conciliation bill of 1910 which only gave certain women rights to vote based on their marital and economic status.

The content is relevant to the topic and the article does a good job at summarizing the problem and the response the women took. The references used are also good secondhand sources with a variety of sources.
